How to use this page

1

Pick the subject and the age

The printables filter by science, technology, engineering, arts, maths and by age band. Start with one subject only.

2

Print it or play on screen

No printer? All eight interactive activities run straight in the browser, on a phone or a computer.

3

Ask, do not explain

Every sheet carries a guiding question. The point is for the child to test, get it wrong and tell you what they saw.

On screen

Eight activities to do right now

None needs a printer, a sign-up or any materials. Tap, drag and test — mistakes are part of it.

A quick guide for families

STEAM is not school at home. It is letting the child observe, try, fail and tell. You do not need to know the answer — you need to ask the next question.

What do you think will happen?

Before you start. A wrong guess counts — that is a hypothesis.

What changed when you tried it another way?

During. This is where the variable shows up.

How would you explain this to someone younger?

At the end. Explaining is the proof they understood.

What changes at each age

2–3 years

Sensory and short: filling, pouring, sorting by colour. Five to eight minutes is plenty.

3–5 years

Counting, comparing and predicting. The sheet is for drawing on, not a test.

6–8 years

Recording and repeating: same experiment, one variable swapped.

9–12 years

A project with a goal and a measure: predict, test, improve, present.

The basic home kit

Baking soda, vinegar, food colouring, clear cups, masking tape, rubber bands, skewers, string, cardboard, a ruler and a notebook. That covers almost the whole collection.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about STEAM at home

What are STEAM activities for kids?

STEAM combines science, technology, engineering, arts and maths in hands-on play. At home, that means observing, predicting, testing and explaining what happened with simple materials.

What age can we start?

The collection starts at age 2 with short sensory activities and goes up to age 12 with projects that include a goal and a measurement.

Are the worksheets and activities free?

Yes. All 37 worksheets and the 8 interactive activities are free, with no sign-up or payment.

Do I need a printer?

No. The eight activities on this page work directly in the browser, on a phone or a computer. The PDF sheets are for families who prefer paper and pencil.

What materials do I need?

Baking soda, vinegar, food colouring, clear cups, masking tape, rubber bands, skewers, string, cardboard, a ruler and a notebook. That covers almost the whole collection.

How long does each activity take?

The average is about 15 minutes. For ages 2 to 3, five to eight minutes can be plenty; older kids can come back to a project over several days.
